Notes Plus is a powerful note taking tool that combines handwriting with typed text with a clean and natural interface:
It gives many benefits:
1. CLOSE-UP HANDWRITING
Handwrite comfortably with your big finger, your text will show up as fine as with pen and paper. Auto-advance feature let you write even with your eyes closed. Advanced stroke smoothening algorithm makes your writing look as good as ever; the faster you write, the better it looks.
2. PALM HANDLING
Lay your palm comfortably down with Palm Pad. The pad scrolls along with your palm making it natural to write on a touch screen.
3. TYPED TEXT MIXING
Let you insert typed text anywhere on the page with many type faces, font sizes, and colors.
4. SHAPE AUTO-DETECT
Let you draw a basic shape (ellipse, rectangle, line, polygon, …) with your finger, auto-detect and insert the shape, then let you edit it.
5. VOICE RECORDING
Let you record audio while jotting down the note. Perfect for meetings, classes, or conferences.
6. EASY EDITING
Let you select handwriting text by just circling around it, then erase or re-arrange it. Erasing a writing is as easy as drawing a line over it. No awkward switching between erase tool, selection tool, and draw tool.
7. EASY ORGANIZING
Notes are presented with many pages with thumbnails. Let you easily arrange pages within a note, delete individual page or entire note.
8. RECOVERING FROM YOUR MISTAKES
Full undo/redo support. Also let you recover your deleted notes or pages.
9. CUSTOMIZING TO YOUR TASTE
Many options are provided including: stroke color, thickness, transparency; text font, size, color; paper background, etc.
10. (LAST AND MOST IMPORTANT) CLEAN & NATURAL USER INTERFACE
As you can see from the screenshots above, this app stands out for its clean interface. A great effort was put in to hide controls so that it would not cluster the interface. You should be able to start without a tutorial. However, if you need one, there is one QuickStart guide when the app is first loaded.

I would like to use Notes Plus for lecture, is there a mode that I can type in the magnified box, but my students can only see the output?
Feb 09, 2012 @ 04:40:31
Hi Ellie,
There’s no such mode, I’m afraid. By the way, you can’t type in the closeup box; you can only write in it.
Feb 07, 2012 @ 07:08:00
Hey there.
Are there any news about the Android Version? I am hardly waiting for an Android Version. I would be happy to hear any news of the release.

Feb 07, 2012 @ 07:59:39
Hi Steffen,
We haven’t started the development on Android yet. We’ll do as soon as the app is really robust on iOS.

Notes are stored in notebooks
Is a page the same as a note?
Put notebooks into folders
And folders into folders
Pages of a notebook
I can move a folder into a folder, or a notebook into a folder
Is a note a page in a folder or notebook?
Feb 07, 2012 @ 02:05:45
Hi Bill,
To avoid confusion, we tend not to use “note” to refer to a page or a notebook; we use “page” and “notebook” explicitly. A notebook can have many pages, and a folder can have many subfolders and/or notebooks. I hope the terms are clear enough.

Is there a desk top version of Notes Plus? It would be helpful for me to add notes whiling I’m working on my laptop instead of switching back and forth from desk top to iPad.
Feb 06, 2012 @ 15:32:53
Hi B,
Unfortunately, there isn’t a desktop version. Notes Plus is meant for tablets (and probably for smartphones too).
Feb 02, 2012 @ 16:13:30
Hello, are there any news about the android version? Did you start the development? I was really excited to read that you’ll create an android version!
Jan 31, 2012 @ 14:58:29
I too am also very pleased and happy to hear that you will be wotking on an Android App version. I can hardly wait to experience it!
Jan 31, 2012 @ 07:01:23
Is there acway to use the recording to dictate written words in notes instead of just the audio files? This app looks great
Feb 03, 2012 @ 08:47:19
Hi Jocelyn,
It would be a killer feature. Another user has pointed us to the Dragon SDK: http://www.nuance.com/for-developers/dragon/index.htm. We’ll think hard about this.
Jan 31, 2012 @ 05:32:33
Please make a version for Android… thanks
Feb 03, 2012 @ 08:44:05
Hi Newton,
We hear you. Just give us some time to sort out the current bugs in the iOS version. Then the Android version will be great.
Jan 31, 2012 @ 03:01:33
I am trying to listen to my recordings on itunes but I am not sure how to do it. I “exported” them to itunes, which turns them into caf files, whatever that means, then I when to the apps section at the bottom and saved the files on my desktop. What should I do next?
Thanks!
Feb 03, 2012 @ 08:42:47
Hi ftorres07,
Sorry about this late reply. *.caf files are playable with QuickTime. We’ll consider using another format like mp3 for easier playback.
Jan 27, 2012 @ 22:58:46
I have had two experiences she I have written a full page of notes, only to have them disappear. I just finished annotating fourteen cases for my Tuesday calendar. I came back to the notebook, and it contains one BLANK page. Help. I love your app otherwise, but if this happens (twice), it just isn’t helpful.
Jan 28, 2012 @ 13:23:43
Hi Daniel,
It must be related to a known bug that made text vanish after a page refreshed if it contained the “&“ and “<” characters. The update version 3.0.1 has arrived to App Store today. Please update to v3.0.1 to eliminate this glitch.
Thanks,
-Duy
Jan 26, 2012 @ 00:08:40
Is there a search feature for typed text in Notes Plus?
I am looking for a note app to use with my notes in class, so I can search for specific subjects while preparing for exams.
Thanks
Steve
Jan 26, 2012 @ 04:20:08
Hi Steve,
Yes, there is. To reveal the search field, tap Tools > Browse Library and swipe down from the top of the list of notebooks/pages.
Jan 24, 2012 @ 02:59:19
Dear Duy,
are this android version info are real….???? if yes, you save my world..thank you very much, i have been waiting for this android version since 1 year ago…..
Jan 24, 2012 @ 11:59:31
Hi Rifal,
That news is real. Android version is already in our wishlist. However, the resource of our Dev Team is very limited. We’ll need more resources to implementation an Android version. It’s just the matter of time to have an Android version. We’ll keep you posted on this.
Thank you for you patience.
-Duy
Jan 26, 2012 @ 03:35:55
Hy Duy..
it’s me again….btw are your Dev Team starting to develop an android version…??
couldn’t wait when this become a beta version….
Jan 26, 2012 @ 04:21:18
Hi Rifal,
We can’t wait to develop for Android either. We’ll let you know when we start doing that. Thanks for your interest.
Jan 22, 2012 @ 12:39:40
Very nice app, thanks.
It would be nice if you could attach record from itunes or voices memos already taken
Aura
Jan 24, 2012 @ 11:55:59
Hi Aura,
I think this is related to technical limitation. Let’s see what we can come up with this.
Thanks,

Jan 20, 2012 @ 23:16:41
Will there ever be an Android version of this application? I just invested in an Android tablet, and I am disappointed with the note-taking options on the market.
Jan 21, 2012 @ 06:43:40
Hi John,
The Android market is very potential. I think we’ll start building an Android app for Notes Plus at some point this week. Please wait for our further announcement on this later.
Stayed tune,
-Duy
Jan 21, 2012 @ 06:46:23
You just made me a very happy man.
Jan 21, 2012 @ 08:17:06
As long as it doesn’t take away precious time from the iOS version
Jan 25, 2012 @ 08:30:17
So approximatelyhow long will it take to make this app…i want it real bad
Jan 25, 2012 @ 08:54:18
Hi Zain,
Once the iOS version is robust enough, porting it to Android would be straightforward. We’ll keep you updated.
Jan 26, 2012 @ 05:41:46
i thing a IOS version is quite enough to generate a college or meeting notes. It’s already a third version coming in, but we are the android users, and really want it this application as well. so could you please made us one, even it’s will a beta version.
in the name of millions of android users..:D
Jan 30, 2012 @ 03:20:25
Hy Duy…
is there any progress on this yet..??
Feb 03, 2012 @ 08:37:09
Hi Rifal,
Sorry we haven’t got started on it yet. The iOS version has many major problems to sort out and we just don’t want to port these same problems to Android. So just sit back and relax. We’ll be sure to notify users who requested this when we’ve finished implementing it.
Jan 19, 2012 @ 11:33:45
Hi,
Firstly, really like the functionality of Notes Plus and I really think it is an awesome app (I bought a styus for it especially!).
There are some things that I think would really improve on it further:
- import of large pdfs (200+) imports the file but all the pages are blank
- the left hand “page” (to the left of the “divider”) doesn’t really seem to have any purpose, having an option to “hide” this would be welcome
- no user guide/quick start guide for v3, which would be really handy
- whilst it’s got more functionality than Penultimate, Penultimate has a less cluttered UI.
Cheers
Jogan
Jan 19, 2012 @ 13:29:52
Hi Jogan,
- It takes for a while for the app to generate a PDF notebook from PDF files. Please leave it for a while before opening up the file. We should improve this behavior in next update.
- The left-handed mode is a web browser where you can access to website and capture images –> paste to your writing area. If you tap on Folder navigation in the left window and open a notebook, it can open 2 notebooks at the same time. This is very convenience when you need to take note and reference to another notebook.
- User Guide will arrive soon in v3.0.1
- We are stabilizing the app and make it stable.
Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Looks like a great product. However, what type of stylus do you use to write with? Where do you get it? How much is it? Can I use my Bic pen? Searched 30 min. to find answer on literature and website. You have failed to answer one of the most obvious questions about your product. Please advise.
P.S. I hope this comment will help you with your marketing presentation.
P.S.S. I had my office manager look also. He could not find. Again, plan to order the app. Need answer to stylus question. Thanks.
Jan 17, 2012 @ 15:39:22
Hi J. Jacobs,
Did you take a look at our dedicated page here: http://notesplusapp.com/support_web/which-stylus-should-you-use-with-notes-plus? Check out the comments section for tips from other users too. I hope the information there will help you make an informed purchase.
Jan 15, 2012 @ 13:20:45
Hi
How do I revert from version 3 to version 2?
Jan 16, 2012 @ 05:14:44
Hi Harshad,
Sorry, there isn’t an official instruction to rollback an application to previous version.
Meanwhile, we’re wrapping up things for v3.0.1. We will try to submit this update as soon as we can.
Thanks again for your patience!

Jan 15, 2012 @ 04:30:47
Hi,
I really love this app. Is there a way to set the default text settings for converted handwriting?
Jan 15, 2012 @ 04:44:40
Hi Scott,
Thanks for choosing Notes Plus!
In order to change font style, please choose “ABC” mode from toolbar, then tap on converted text and select a preset font setting in placeholder in the toolbar. There is a limitation that you can’t change different font settings other than preset ones. We’re working on the ability to customize different settings for Textbox (ABC mode) like : style, color, size and font face in version 3.0.1
Regards,
-Duy

As I understand the audio linked with an associated page should jump to the page it’s associated with; I’m not sure how to activate this. I’ve tried plenty of tester pages but the audio stays on whatever the last page I manually turn to instead of the page the audio is actually associated with.
Jan 15, 2012 @ 04:48:10
Hi Alexis,
The audio linked with an associated page currently doesn’t jump to the page it’s associated with. We still need to research for the implementation. Notes Plus offers the ability to open multiple recordings which linked to associated page.
We’ll improve this behavior over time.
Thanks,
-Duy
Jan 14, 2012 @ 18:52:50
Hi! I use notes plus for taking notes and recording my classes. I have not been able to figure out how to get the recordings into iTunes. It says it was uploaded to iTunes, but I can’t find anything in iTunes and i cant locate file sharing. Ultimately what I would like to do is be able to listen to my recordings on my iPhone. They were originally created on my iPad. Can you tell me how to do this??
Jan 15, 2012 @ 04:08:09
Hi Chris,
Please locate to Notes Plus library in iTunes File Sharing (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4094), then save Recordings folder to save your local folder, these recordings are under .caf format which can be opened in QuickTime.
Just let us know if you have any troubles.
Thanks,
-Duy
Jan 12, 2012 @ 20:39:30
When taking notes while recording, does the note get timestamped to the recording? Would it be possible to select an individual note or drawing on the page and have it jump to what was being recorded at that moment?
Jan 13, 2012 @ 09:32:00
Hi Jeffrey,
I think the feature you mentioned is audio-sync with note. If yes, this isn’t supported by Notes Plus. We’ll need to research for implementation. Right now, the recordings are linked to associated pages.
Thanks,
-Duy

This app is randomly deleting whole page at a time! How can i fix this? or recover my page? IMPORTANT!! PLEASE HELP!!
Jan 12, 2012 @ 20:54:31
I’m having the same problem. I just took 4 pages of notes, but pages 2 and 4 seem to be gone. Is there any way to recover them?
Jan 13, 2012 @ 09:35:52
Hi Alicia and Jim,
There’s a serious bug that makes text vanish after a page refresh if it contains the “&“ and “<” characters. This has been fixed in v3.0.1 (We’ll submit this update within this week). For now, please avoid these deadly characters in your notes.
We apologize for this.

HELP!!! I can’t get this to work at all. Why is my Palm Pad at the top of the screen instead of the bottom?
Jan 13, 2012 @ 09:40:47
Hi Yasmin,
I guess somehow you activate the left-handed mode (or are your left-handed user?). To set the palm plad back to the bottom of the page, pleas go to App settings (the bottom button in central bar) and turn off “Left-handed Writing” setting.
Just let us know if this is still a problem.
Thanks,
-Duy
Jan 10, 2012 @ 21:18:16

Jan 13, 2012 @ 09:48:30
Hi Jack,
Yes, you can combine both recording and typing on notes within the app.

How do I select the font output for the handwriting to text conversion. Therefore I can have the typed text and the converted text the same font.
Jan 12, 2012 @ 07:28:44
Hi Trevor,

Jan 13, 2012 @ 23:00:30
Amazing app! Thanks.
In regards to your response, can the font size of converted text be changed? Just through the 3 presets at the top of th UI? If so, how do you edit the font presets, specifically size?
Jan 14, 2012 @ 12:04:33
Hi Josh,
To change the font size of converted text, use the Hand to select the textbox, then tap the Palette on the toolbar, then change its size under the Text tab. Any new setting you create in the Palette is remembered; you’ll just have to long-press on a pen slot and select it from the radial wheel.
Jan 09, 2012 @ 19:43:52
Can I convert handwriting to text when writing on a PDF. Doesn’t seem to work.
Thanks
Jan 12, 2012 @ 07:27:27
Hi Trevor,
Yes, you can do the same steps as you did for notebook in order to convert handwriting to text on a PDF. Just let us know if this is still a problem.
Thanks,
-Duy
