About
This page is about version 2.0 and it’s out-dated; the current Notes Plus version is 3.0. I’m updating this page for the new version. Mean time, please visit Version 3 Page for more information.
(check out the release plan and read user reviews in Apple’s App Store).
About an Android version: This is a question that gets asked a lot, “Do you have plans to port the app to another OS like Android?” . Yes, we do, but I’m afraid that won’t happen in the near future, as we’re focusing on bug fixes and usability improvements on this iOS version. It’s never a good idea to migrate the same bugs and weaknesses to another platform, so we believe Android users will benefit a lot from this wait.

Notes Plus is a powerful note taking tool that combines handwriting with typed text with a clean and natural interface:
It gives many benefits:
1. CLOSE-UP HANDWRITING
Handwrite comfortably with your big finger, your text will show up as fine as with pen and paper. Auto-advance feature let you write even with your eyes closed. Advanced stroke smoothening algorithm makes your writing look as good as ever; the faster you write, the better it looks.
2. PALM HANDLING
Lay your palm comfortably down with Palm Pad. The pad scrolls along with your palm making it natural to write on a touch screen.
3. TYPED TEXT MIXING
Let you insert typed text anywhere on the page with many type faces, font sizes, and colors.
4. SHAPE AUTO-DETECT
Let you draw a basic shape (ellipse, rectangle, line, polygon, …) with your finger, auto-detect and insert the shape, then let you edit it.
5. VOICE RECORDING
Let you record audio while jotting down the note. Perfect for meetings, classes, or conferences.
6. EASY EDITING
Let you select handwriting text by just circling around it, then erase or re-arrange it. Erasing a writing is as easy as drawing a line over it. No awkward switching between erase tool, selection tool, and draw tool.
7. EASY ORGANIZING
Notes are presented with many pages with thumbnails. Let you easily arrange pages within a note, delete individual page or entire note.
8. RECOVERING FROM YOUR MISTAKES
Full undo/redo support. Also let you recover your deleted notes or pages.
9. CUSTOMIZING TO YOUR TASTE
Many options are provided including: stroke color, thickness, transparency; text font, size, color; paper background, etc.
10. (LAST AND MOST IMPORTANT) CLEAN & NATURAL USER INTERFACE
As you can see from the screenshots above, this app stands out for its clean interface. A great effort was put in to hide controls so that it would not cluster the interface. You should be able to start without a tutorial. However, if you need one, there is one QuickStart guide when the app is first loaded.

I have a question, if i import a PDF and add annotation can I export this as a PDF so I can share the file again. Also on the utube video you mentioned that you can export so that you can use on a Mac graphics program. What file formats can you export notesplus to?
May 06, 2012 @ 07:33:41
Hi Erik,
You can certainly export the annotated PDF as another PDF with annotations in it. The internal format we use is SVG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svg) but we haven’t allowed exporting notebooks to this format. Notes Plus can also export to images and WebArchives (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webarchive) (you can share WebArchives with other Notes Plus users and they will import these files into Notes Plus as regular notebooks). For export options, tap Tools > Export.
May 05, 2012 @ 18:45:34
How the “note plus” work with note taking in language different than English ie writing from right to left.
May 06, 2012 @ 07:22:36
Hi Shai,
Notes Plus has an option called “Right to left writing in closeup mode”. You can turn it on, then enter closeup mode by long-pressing anywhere on the page using the Pen tool.
May 04, 2012 @ 03:18:32
Hi,
Just one question, how can I print my work???
May 04, 2012 @ 03:59:08
Hi Erika,
The upcoming v3.0.4 (due for submission very soon) has this Print function. For now, please export your notebook to a PDF and print it in another app.
Apr 17, 2012 @ 15:35:28
I am looking for a way to “add” an audio file to a notebook – such that I can take notes based on the audio and have those notes “mapped” to the audio for future reference.
Is this possible?
Thx,
D
Apr 17, 2012 @ 16:48:27
Hi d2020,
Unfortunately that’s not possible until a future update. Right now any recording made on a page will be linked to that page.

Hello I’m amen Yassin. I’m underage so I can’t use a visa or MasterCard my father is dead if you can help me any way to get it for free please just one help (hint)
Apr 16, 2012 @ 15:39:12
Hi Yassin,
Since you’re underage, we can’t help you do any online transaction. Please get another person with a credit card to help you. Thanks.
Apr 15, 2012 @ 18:58:18
Hello I am amen Yassin from Palestine , I am very impressed of this program, but there is a problem my credit card has not absorbed by the app store so if there is another way to get it please help me
Apr 16, 2012 @ 00:22:49
Hi Amen,
I’m afraid I can’t provide much help regarding this. Could you contact Apple about this? Their support page is http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/.
Apr 11, 2012 @ 07:52:16
Hello!
I love version 3, but I haven’t backed up my notes to dropbox yet, since I can’t seem to find notes plus in the “setting app” . Why doesn’t it show up there? Have I misunderstood something.
-Sandra
Apr 11, 2012 @ 16:56:35
Hi Sandra,
By the “Setting app”, do you mean iPad Settings? If so, that’s not where you’ll find Notes Plus settings. To find them, launch Notes Plus in landscape, then tap the gear icon on the bottom left corner. You can “Link to Dropbox” there and turn on “Automatic backup and restore”.
Apr 09, 2012 @ 12:07:02
I had been working on a very long notebook 15 pages on Friday. I came back in Monday morning and it was gone?!
Apr 09, 2012 @ 16:48:13
Hi Derek,
How did it happen? Were you using Dropbox autobackup at that time? If so, my guess is our Dropbox function was slow to synchronize the changes. Please use File Sharing (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4094) and save the Notebooks folder from Notes Plus Documents to your computer. Then look in this folder for a subfolder with the same name as your problematic notebook. Open the index.html file in a web browser and see if your lost notes are there.
Apr 05, 2012 @ 16:11:22
Hi, overall good app! Keep up the good work.
Just a few of questions if a I may:
- once you draw an actual line or shape that is then corrected by the app, is there any way to delete it?
-can you delete an entire page in a notebook without having to use the eraser? And possibly automatically update the pages number?
-is there any ways to use the page in the horizontal side( while keeping the toolbar the right way up?
If the answer to any of the above is no/can’t do it it would be great if you could add theses basic features in one of the next updates.
Thanks and again good job!
Apr 06, 2012 @ 00:33:38
Hi Marco,
Thanks for the compliment. To answer your questions:
1. Detected shapes can’t be erased with the Eraser. You’ll need to circle it, tap “>”, then “Delete.”
2. Yes, you can. Tap Tools (top-left wrench icon) > Browse Library, drill down to the list of pages that includes the current page. Swipe across that page and tap “Delete”.
3. Do you mean landscape mode? If so, yes, you can use Notes Plus in landscape mode. The UI will change accordingly.
Apr 03, 2012 @ 20:48:29
Hello,
Is it possible to use Notes plus as a PDF editor of sorts? ie changing the background image to be a alternant image like a pdf?
Apr 04, 2012 @ 00:53:49
Hi Peter,
While you can’t edit a PDF directly like changing the text and backgrounds, you can import it into Notes Plus and annotate it, the PDF pages being the paper backgrounds. Does this answer your question?
Apr 01, 2012 @ 11:24:43
Hi.
Today, I buy Notesplus and tried to handwrite.
I think it is best App for me.
But I have one suggestion.
I think better that Stoke thickness can be more small.
From 0.1 to 1.0. Is it impossible??
Apr 01, 2012 @ 11:44:32
Hi Wando,
Welcome to Notes Plus! Since you’re new, please take a look at our FAQ page: http://notesplusapp.com/support_web/frequently-asked-questions. About your question, a smaller stroke would be rendered invisible or “out-of-ink” so we’re careful about adding smaller size. You can, on the other hand, increase the page dimension to achieve a smaller-stroke effect: Tools (top-left wrench icon) > Change page settings. Any other questions, just let me know.
Mar 31, 2012 @ 03:46:31
My recommendation is to have the text wrap around text boxes, photos and shapes. I would not expect text to wrap around handwriting, only those items that can selected and moved.
Mar 31, 2012 @ 09:08:57
Hi Daniel,
That’s a great idea. We’ll consider implementing it after all the bugs have been fixed, at which time the app will be stable enough for more features.
Mar 27, 2012 @ 22:09:18
I purchased your app a few weeks ago, and love almost everything about it! I am having a serious problem with it though, which has caused me to resort to a different, less impressive app.
I am a nursing student, and bought your app to use fir taking notes during lectures. Twice, in the past week, I have lost all of my recordings that were to coincide with my notes! The first time, was during playback – while I was studying – and this time (today), the app crashed, and I lost all of my recorded lecture!
I switched from a livescribe pen to an iPad, specifically to use for school. I am afraid to use the app again, because I cannot afford to lose anymore of the recordings. When I go to the area to see my recordings, it shows an entry – but there’s 0:00 in the time area, and there is nothing there!
Has anyone else mentioned problems like this?
Please help – because I LOVE this app!
Thank you,
Mindy
Mar 28, 2012 @ 00:39:59
Hi Mindy,
We’re sorry you lost your recordings. Can you save the NRecordings folder from Notes Plus Documents to your computer via File Sharing (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4094)? Look in this folder for the lost recordings. Do you see them? If so, use QuickTime to play them.
Mar 23, 2012 @ 05:34:12
Hi, I just bought the app and am very pleased with its features. However, one of my pages full of notes went blank somehow, I looked in the trash bin to make sure it wasn’t there and all I found was a blank page. Is there any way to bring back that page?
Thanks!
Mar 23, 2012 @ 16:28:56
Hi Lydia,
Was it blank or completely lost? Are you using Dropbox? If so, it might be the cause. Try unlinking from Dropbox in App Settings (make sure to tap Unlink and not just disable “Auto-sync with Dropbox”) and see if this problem persists. If it’s indeed due to Dropbox, there’s one way to check. Just use File Sharing (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4094) and save the Notebooks folder from Notes Plus Documents to your computer. Then look in this folder and count the subfolders. They correspond to the pages of your notebook. Do you see more folders than your pages viewed in Notes Plus?
Mar 23, 2012 @ 16:50:02
Hi, im actually not using dropbox. I think its just completely lost. I was deleting another page and then it disappeared.
Thank you for the response.
Mar 23, 2012 @ 17:13:51
Hi Lydia,
Thanks for getting back. This might be a serious bug that we haven’t seen. If you notice a pattern, could you please let us know? Did you save the Notebooks folder from Notes Plus Documents in File Sharing? If so, look in this folder for another folder with the same name as the notebook in Notes Plus where you lost pages. Can you open the index.html file in it in a browser and see if you can see your notebook in its entirety?
Mar 23, 2012 @ 18:20:04
I just saved the notebooks through file sharing and i can see the notebook as it is now in its entirety there, but this was after the page got deleted. But, i will let you now if this happens again.
Thanks
Mar 21, 2012 @ 04:12:38
Is there a way to add tags to a page, note, or notebook? If not, it would be a very useful feature.
Thanks,
Dan
Mar 21, 2012 @ 05:52:41
Hi Dan,
We’ll introduce tagging in a later update. It’s in our to-do list. Please give us time to fix bugs first before implementing any new features. Thanks.
Mar 14, 2012 @ 06:17:51
This application alone made me want my iPad. Apple products are weak alone. Android is so much better. This application must be made available for android soon. This should be top priority to your developers. I sold my iPad for android and don’t regret it for a second. If you want your product to be robust make it available for the world to use, not just one market.
Mar 14, 2012 @ 08:34:43
Hi Jessica,
We do have plans to port the app to Android. But that won’t happen anytime soon because we want to make it robust and bug-free on iOS first. I’m sure Android users will benefit a lot from the wait.
Mar 21, 2012 @ 14:33:21
I understand the urge to create the best app possible, but making literally half the mobile market wait for years is not a good business plan. Eventually someone will just port a copy of your app themselves or create one and then you lose that business.
Mar 22, 2012 @ 00:34:48
Hi Todd,
We’d love to jump right into that market, but considering the great expectations from Android users, the current bug list (http://notesplusapp.com/version/version-3-beta), and the many usability problems, we can’t develop for Android until the iOS version is reasonably “right”. Migrating all these problems to Android would require double the work to fix the bugs, and we’re not talking about one or two easy-to-fix bugs.
Mar 23, 2012 @ 22:14:27
Toan,
Might I “strongly” suggest adding an Android note to the ABOUT section at top of the this page. It’s best to pre-answer the many requests for an Android version. Save everyone time, effort, and frustration?
Feel free to cut-n-paste anything from my Mar 02, 2012 @ 02:19:45
“Android Users waiting for Note Plus” comment.
To Quote: “If writing something like Note Plus was easy, there would be dozens of versions of Handwriting Apps for iOS AND Android. ”

Mar 24, 2012 @ 01:20:40
Hi Philip,
If they want to ask about Notes Plus, they can do that everywhere so it will become impractical to include every piece of Android information on every page. It’s OK now I guess, because we haven’t got lots of such requests lately. Thanks for your thoughts, Philip
.
Mar 24, 2012 @ 05:15:14
Toan,
I’m not suggestion that every NP blog page have these notes.
Just the this ABOUT page. Seems “most” of the (frantic?) requests are on this ABOUT page.
I just suggest a simple paragraph to help inform and … tone down these frantic requests. Individual requests on other NP blog pages could be refered to this paragraph, if necessary.
Remember, it better to pre-answer such often requests.
Philip ( Once is a question, Twice is a pattern. Avoid the rush.

Thanks Toan,
Hope your Android notice at the top of this ABOUT blog helps.

hi, sorry to ask….when is the android version avail?
Mar 10, 2012 @ 03:13:32
Hi Kem,
Unfortunately, we haven’t started on it yet though we have plans to port the app to Android. But that won’t happen anytime soon because we want to make it robust and bug-free on iOS first. I’m sure Android users will benefit a lot from the wait.
Mar 09, 2012 @ 10:48:49
Is it possible ti import PDFs into the app???
Mar 10, 2012 @ 03:12:41
Hi Stipan,
There are three ways:
1. Use File Sharing (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4094) and add your PDFs into Notes Plus Documents. Close and re-open Notes Plus and they will appear in the root folder. Tap on a PDF and start annotating it.
2. Long-press a PDF attachment in an email message and choose “Open In Notes Plus”
3. Load a PDF in another app (Safari / Dropbox / etc.), then “Open In Notes Plus”
Mar 09, 2012 @ 04:32:10
When can we expect to see this on Android? I do not want to invest in another app so I am waiting patiently.
Mar 09, 2012 @ 04:45:18
Hi Joe,
Unfortunately, we haven’t started on it yet though we have plans to port the app to Android. But that won’t happen anytime soon because we want to make it robust and bug-free on iOS first. I’m sure Android users will benefit a lot from the wait.
Mar 08, 2012 @ 14:17:14
The App is wonderful but I am having some issues. When I take notes for classes I usually mix pen writting and typing together on the same page. When I switch notebooks and return to the same page, the typed texts shifts to the top of the page and the pen writing overlaps the typed text. It’s frustrating because I have to constantly move the text down so that the pen writing is placed properly. Is there a way to change thatbecaue it seems like he App was not meant for pen writing and typing on the same page
Mar 08, 2012 @ 17:24:10
Hi Che,
I think you’re talking about this bug: http://notesplusapp.com/ticket/330 , which has been fixed in v3.0.3 (due in a week or so). As a workaround, just switch to ABC mode and tap anywhere on the page to place a textbox, then put your text in it. Sorry about the inconvenience.
