I was trying to keep this new skin a surprise until version 2.2 is live but what the heck, here it is, the new skin of Notes Plus.

I installed your app this morning and was happy with it until the notes that I took during a very long meeting suddenly disappeared. I saw the message about the bug and re-typed the notes as best I could from memory being careful not to use the death symbols and those notes disappeared as well. I did a lot of research on this before I bought it and am wondering if I should not have.

Hi,
I have adopted notesplusapp and I really enjoy it. The handwriting recognition works fine in English, in French (with more mistakes though) and Chinese, the 3 languages I have tested so far. I tested another application doing handwriting recognition but it was very basic and not featuring so wealth of useful options notesplusapp has. This one is really giving the convenience and feel of a paper block note, plus all the advantages of having it all integrated in the iPad.
One disappointment came today though: I have worked on a todo note which was handwritten then converted to digital characters. When I went back to my iPad a few hours later, all I found was an empty sheet of paper…
Last point: you seem to have worked quite a lot on the UI, however, comparing for instance to native apps, I still feel the interface is missing a real cool touch… Thanks anyway and hope to get more updates in the near future because I am going to use his application a lot!

Hi Erwan,
I think it’s related to a serious bug that makes text vanish after a page refresh if it contains the “&“ and “<” characters. This has been fixed in v3.0.1. The update was submitted to App Store last week. It will take a couple of days for Apple to approve our submission. For now, please avoid these deadly characters in your notes.
We’ll make some improvements for the UI and revise the working flows constantly to make it friendly. In future update, we’ll bring back the brown-leather theme of v2.

I guess you’re using T mode, which is for full-page text. For free-floating textboxes just like in v2, use ABC mode instead. Be sure to check out our FAQ page for important information on v3.0 (http://notesplusapp.com/version/version-3/).

This seems like a great app. Do you a tutorial notebook for download and an updated video tutorial for vs 3.0? I’ve been checking out the online tutorials but they all seem to reference verision 2.2. As a result some of the navigation and toolbar selections are unknown to me. This version seems to have some really great feature but I currently don’t know how to use them.

Yes, you can import a PDF and annotate it. To annotate a PowerPoint file, convert it to a PDF first and then import it into Notes Plus.

Thanks for letting me submit a comment. I’ve been using Notes Plus from your start and love it. I’ve tried many others at the App Store (I like trying out note taking apps even though it gets a wee bit pricey). Really, none compare with yours. Some do stuff that yours doesn’t and have a few features you don’t carry, but I always go back to Notes Plus. I just love the way your zoom feature works. Nobody else’s works as well. I also really like how easy it is to manage notebooks and folders. It’s also a lot easier to make corrections in Notes Plus because you put the redo button in a nice location and your crossout feature works well.
The new 3.0 upgrade was very brave, seeing that you’ve basically changed the look of the whole app. But it’s not so different that it seems completely new. You seem to have made handwriting following much more zippy and smooth. Great news!

Is it possible to have an infinite canvas? I love the idea of having letter sized PDF documents, but I also need the option of being able to create larger format diagrams as well. For example, on paper, I usually start with a tabloid sheet and continue by taping other sheets to It as the figure grows.

Infinite canvas is a nice feature. Many people have asked for this when they draw diagrams. However, the performance of iPad graphic rendering isn’t ideally to do that yet. I think the DevTeam needs to figure out a good way to implement unlimited canvas idea. This is something we’ll tackle in the future, especially when the new powerful iPad 3 will arrive at some point this year

I have the latest version. Recently，the software often suddenly hanged and lost my input after using 15 – 30 mins. It happens again and again after i’d shut down the whole IPad. It is very annoying. Any advice？

Hi Nofeetbird,
If you happen to be using Dropbox, please unlink from it as it’s known to cause sporadic crashes. To minimize crashes, it helps to frequently empty the trash and archive rarely-used notes by exporting them to PDFs and deleting them in Notes Plus. Also, exit all other unused apps from the background to give Notes Plus a little more space. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Current version doesn’t allow to import external sources yet. Version 3 will allow to insert image, PDF file and write over on it. However Word file or Pages file aren’t supported in next version yet. If you still want to import these type files, please convert your documents to PDF files. This way you’ll still be able to take note on it.

It would be awesome if the audio search would be better. I have problems if I record longer than 15mins, so I keep it less than 10min. If there was a more user friendly way to skip ahead this would be a perfect student app for note taking during lectures. additionally if there was some button to time stamp your written notes with the audio time would be VERY usefull addition. I still got great hopes for this app, keep up the great work.

Thank you for all of your ideas. Sync notes with audio recordings is a nice-to-have feature, imaging you can tap a portion of a note and hear the audio recorded during that portion. We will definitely consider these suggestions.

Hello,
I am really considering to purchase your app but I have one important question before I do.
Is your app “friendly” to left handed people. Your app seems to have everything I need but considering the way I write (usually my hand rests horizontal to the lines on the page), it makes things difficult.
Penultimate has a nice feature for left handed people. Does your app have an equivalent?

These are known problems from our recent update. They have been fixed in our latest update (v2.3.4) that we submitted to App Store days ago. It should go live tomorrow. Meanwhile, to get rid of unwanted lines, try scrolling the page with 2 fingers.

I’m an official tester for many other apps and I use Your app pretty much all dI’II’ve officially replaced my paper note book with notes plus. I’m a marketing executive that lives in client and creative meetings and would now be lost without your app.

Hi, hopefully you can help. When using the app I circled a word to delete it which it did but left the circle. This stayed on the screen even when I changed page. I have since rest my iPad to see if this helped now the app won’t open. It comes on then goes straight off. I use this app for word and have several folders in use and several weeks of work in various folders so I’m hoping you can help me in getting it to work again. I have also tried syncing with iTunes.

Hi David,
A workaround is to scroll the page a bit with 2 fingers and the circle will go away. This is a known bug caused by our recent update and has been fixed in our latest version (v2.3.4) that we submitted to App Store. It should go live on Oct 18th.

I just started having problems with the “close up box” not being able to resize it horizontally (left-right). It has arrows to resize top and bottom, but nothing in the other direction. I’m not sure why this just began.

Can you please try to do following steps and let me know at which steps you got stuck :
In the Folder panel, tap on Edit icon, tap to select a folder you want to set password protect, then tab on the lock icon in the bottom of Folder panel, tap “Password protect”, set your new password, tap OK, again tap “Password protect” to activate protection for your Folder. Then put your private notebooks to this folder. Anytime, you access this folder, it will ask for password. You can also set the expiration period when temporarily switch to other apps.

Honestly, we don’t have a good way to resolve this multi gestures problem. I recommend you to turn off iOS 5′s multi gestures in your iPad’s settings if you want to have comfortable handwriting.
