Dear Beta Testers,
Instead of emailing us your feedback, please post it here so that we all can have discussions and others can see our progress. We have a new build every Monday and Thursday. Check at the top of this page for its status.
We are trying to be as transparent as possible so any screenshots, especially videos, are very welcome. See further instructions below.
Installing the beta build (download links were sent separately to each beta tester):
1. Connect your iPad to the computer and launch iTunes
2. Drag the 2 downloaded files into iTunes. On a Mac, you can just drag them to the iTunes icon in your dock.
3. Select your iPad under DEVICES, then the Apps tab on the right pane. Make sure the new “Notes Plus 3.x” app is checked in the Apps list.
4. Start sync
After the sync, you’ll see an app named “Notes Plus 3.x” on your iPad’s Home screen. Note that this is a separate app and won’t interfere with your current Notes Plus app in any way.
Notes:
1. To make sure you have the right build, always delete Notes Plus 3.x from both your iPad and iTunes before dragging the new build into iTunes and starting the sync.
2. Never put your *only* copy of important data in Notes Plus 3.x as it can go wrong any time and you’ll lose your data, unless you choose to do so at your own risk.
Testing v2 data in Notes Plus 3:
1. Use
File Sharing and drop
NotesPlusPlus.sqlite into
Notes Plus 3.x Documents.
2. Exit the app from the background and relaunch it. Data conversion will kick in.
Please test to make sure v2 data looks (almost) the same as v3 data.
Including screenshots in your post:
There are a few image hosting services that require no registration to use. PostImage.org is one of these.
1. Go to http://www.postimage.org/ and upload your screenshots.
2. After the upload process, press “Copy to Clipboard” next to the “Link” field and paste it in your post (WordPress doesn’t allow users to post HTML comments).

Completely off topic – my Stylus (thank you Viet) started sticking to my iPad (rubber tip starting to degrade). Then I found solution!

I am disappointed, this app seems to get worse and worse….
The build 5/14 is a mess (on iPad2).
I still believe NP has the best function on the market… but it’s just simply not working yet.
Best to U anyway, i know nothing is obvious in dev.

iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1, 5/14 build
I install the app 3 times, reboot, always same pb: open the closeup box, begin to write and then in the middle of the page, the left side (internet page) comes at mid screen. Only solution to re-open the app. Also there are still the same pb at the right end of the closeup box when writing with erratic movements.

Got it. It was a simple change to support left-hand non-hook handwriting that caused this. I’ll make the fix in today build.

iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1, 5/14 build And I’m liking it!
Reasonably fast, quick page scrolling, fixed #484 for page scrolling, no noticable crashes. All the major problems “I was having” seem to have been fixed in 5/14 and it’s working for me! Loving the new 2 finger pages scrolling.
iPad 1 & 3 Users may be having big problems but for now,
NP 3.0.4 is working pretty good for me on my iPad 2.
I’m sorry but I’m going to enjoy 3.0.4 to the max.
And then, Then …
We can gather back together to pester Viet for new … ” improved 3.1+ UI”. Bells, whistles, better Stylus support (ByZero/iPen, Adonit Jot, whatever….). And a pony?

Version 3.0.4 Beta has the NEW 2 Finger Page Scrolling.
- So you can scroll UP from the top of a page,
or DOWN from the bottom of a page.
- Works in FULL SCREEN mode too!
- Or 1 Finger if the Note is Read Only.
It works pretty good!
Would that eliminate your need for “lower right page turn back”?
I was demanding a better NP Page Scrolling option and the 2 Finger ones works pretty good for me.

I mentioned this to Viet before but, I wanted to post out ere as well. I am a left handed writer but I do not use the hook style, I write like a right handed person but with my left hand. One issue I have run across for some time is that when writing close to the left edge I seem to make the help, and settings pop up on a regular basis, even though the bar is hidden. The annoying thing is that when you get the settings it pops you out of close up view. You can recreate this by just tapping on the thin bar on the left where the settings and help normally are, also you can do te same for recording and the library, Can we just get those buttons deactivated while the bar is hidden?

Just found a new issue. The app crashes when flipping through the pages of a PDF in the browser window at a faced pace. The PDF I was reading was ~80 pages. This happened repeatedly.

Thanks for reporting about this issue. This has been reported by our beta testers before. This is actually related to memory issue that it also happens with other applications when browsing a file with heavy content. We’ll keep improving the page loading mechanism on left browser window.

Quick Blog editing request. Would it be possible to do a quick SORT of the Tutorial Videos listed on the right side of this page? Just put the V 3.0 tutorials at the top, and leave the V 2.3.6 videos at the bottom of the list?
This would help New Users find them a bit easier.

Since a “copy” action is usually followed by an immediate “paste”, I suggest that after pressing the copy button, the “paste from clipboard” menu should open automatically.
Or now that I think about it, a “duplicate” button would solve this issue too (useful for when someone needs to copy and paste something in the same page). I do it all the time and its time consuming the way it is right now.
